Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations regarding the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, which must be held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. You will need to present valid identification and proof of your current address. Additionally, valid payment details and a security deposit are necessary, along with any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Morden office. A deposit is often necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are usually required upon collecting your vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a thorough inspection is required to identify any pre-existing damage, which must be reported immediately. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed at this time. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as received, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charges applied accordingly. Please return the vehicle with a fuel level that matches the initial state; refueling fees will be incurred if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in additional charges, so please reach out to us as soon as possible if a delay is anticipated. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges that occur during the rental period, along with a processing fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial liability, so reviewing these options is advisable. You remain liable for damages or losses up to the insurance excess, except when additional insurance is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse falls under your responsibility, regardless of existing insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities or purposes. This includes participation in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other dangerous maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized individuals to drive is not permitted. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purpose and within specified passenger and weight limits. Driving beyond the agreed geographical boundaries without prior permission is not allowed.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Morden will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability in any claim will not exceed the total amount you paid for your rental in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be addressed exclusively within English and Welsh courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
